We arrive at Mexico CIty airport, an airport with an interesting lighting design, before flying direct to Chihuahua........ |
Where we find that it looks like every town and country has a supermarket of the same name (this one singular though).... |
A town with an massive church..... |
And home to The Big Cow, "mmmm yummy" says Fi........ |
And some beautiful old buildings....... |
But it's hot, so we're forced to sample some Mexican beers........ |
And admire the lane division, studded for your pleasure!!....... |
Then head off on "El Chepe" bound for Copper Canyon.......... |
We pass over some very rocky ground....... |
And through the coldest town in Mexico.......... |
Before a quick stop at Divisadero, to admire the view of Barranca de Cobre (Copper Canyon)....... |
Which is humbling (deeper and 6 times bigger than USA's Grand Canyon)....... |
We make an overnight stop a little later at Pasado and admire the canyon from a different angle..... |
And also some hotels perched right on the edge (assisted by a considerable amount of concrete)..... |
And just can't resist the urge to go "panoramic" (which fails to do it justice)........ |
And come across a small dwelling built under a massive rock......... |
Before dinner, made even more delicious with the use of some "Catsup". Up cats never tasted so good!........ |
And then check out the canyon from another angle the next morning...... |
And then hop back on El Chepe and traverse some bridges (only 37) and tunnels (only 86)....... |
Before hopping on a "Chicken" bus at Bahuichivo (where I insisted on paying the fare to a passenger instead of the driver!!) to make the (dusty) trek down into the canyon. |
Where we stayed at a place with an awesome veggie patch that we could help ourselves to (ohhhh fresh salad! The first we've seen since we have been in Mexico)....... |
And a cute stone cottage that was ours for two nights........ |
Were we could soak up the humbling size of the canyon from the bottom of the canyon |
And soak up some amazing sunrises........ |
Ditto........ |
Before making our way back to Cerocahui, to stay near this awesome rock formation........ |
Right near our hotel....... |
Were we obviously caught up on world affairs via internet and made friends with "Igloo" the pet rabbit....... |
And played shoot em ups, Mariachi style...... |
Then back on the train, to soak up some more impressive scenery......... |
and sunset........ |
